He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Delhi has been seeing MCD actions on shop demolitions. Finally, with a court order still pending, the court has asked the traders to submit an affidavit(yesterday was the last day). The affidavit simply states that the trader agrees that he is on illegal land, and needs time till 30th June to clear his shop of merchandise. Else his shop is sealed immediately.
This report here mentions about the livelihood of lakhs of traders is on stake. That on ground reality is a very conservative estimate. This action has been on for almost four months now. Everyday the front pages of the newspapers have been plastered with it. Even then, there has been nothing except a dumb murmer across the city where the MCD officials haven't reached. It has been funny to watch actually. The posh fashion houses of GK 1 had staged no protest until the shops had actually been broken by a crane. Let the others stew in vain until you yourself are fucked. Then go and start a forum.
I was having lunch with a motley bunch of shopkeepers today where the MCD officials hadn't reached yet. And the calmness and no-caring attitude was eerie. And Stupid.
This is what I abhor about the crowd. I had written about Naked Democracy earlier, and it is precisely what I want to convey. The dumb silence. This is the behavior of rats, not humans.
If I could kill, I would finish each of these rats one by one. Not the wrong-doers, they at least take a stand. It is these impotent fucked up cretins that absolutely put me off the whole concept of humanity. Why shouldn't I kill, pillage, rape, drive at 110 kmph on busy roads or follow any of the so called rules of civilized society if you scurry about as soon as the light falls on you?
It is at times like these that i think about Gandhi. Of course, history is convenient to forget all of the dumbness that goes in making people (any more, and i shall barf at this word now) heard. They term it a 'struggle'.
The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict.
